In August 2016 I left my job to create Metorik, an analytics and email automation tool for eCommerce stores. Here I'll share Metorik's journey with you, providing an intimate look into what goes on at Metorik from start to who knows.

I must seem crazy.
I get asked the same questions almost daily:
When are you going to expand to other platforms?
Why don't you spend more money and time on marketing?
When are you going to hire more people and grow the team?
Why don't you just raise some VC money and grow 1000x faster?
My answers tends to be the same regardless of the question: "When there's purpose in doing so".
It's easy to do things for the sake of it. Let's add a new feature for the sake of it. Let's hire several people for the sake of it. Let's sponsor that conference for the sake of it. But there often isn't a justification behind those things besides "so we can grow".
Growth is not a bad thing. When it happens (organically), I embrace it. But I refuse to purposely seek growth just for the sake of it. And I refuse to compromise what I've already built and the customers that have already placed their faith and money in me.
Metorik will continue to grow, along with the team and myself. However, we will not grow just for the sake of it. We will grow with reason, purpose, and direction.
It would seem crazy to do otherwise.
